Team Pete - food for thought

Call me crazy but I'd quite like to do an organised run this year.

After a stint in hospital with a suspected stroke - which turned out to be inflammation of my spinal cord - stopped me training for a half marathon in July last year I now feel brave enough to start pounding the streets again. I had my health check today and my doctor was extremely impressed by my resting heart rate, all down to the exercise I've been doing methinks.

I've found a run that sounds perfect and it's split into a 5km or 10km.

Does anyone fancy joining me?!

The race is SHERWOOD PINES 10K & 5K FOREST TRAIL RACE and is on Sunday 19th July @11.30am

It's a beautiful trail run through Sherwood forest, on well maintained forest trails.

In addition there are lots of things to do including; a picnic area, cycle hire, go-ape, childrens playgrounds and Robin Hoods hideaway so your supporters will have plenty to do.

If your even slightly tempted have a look at http://www.2pointb.co.uk/Running/TrailRaces/trail_race_fun_day.htm

If I can get a small team/s together to do the 5K or 10K run I'll happily manage the logistics and t-shirt printing :)

Let me know what you think it might be quite fun to do a race as 'Team Pete'!

You spin me round, round...

The new RPM tracks were introduced at spin today and OH MY GOD!! Even the instructor looked like she was going to keel over. I managed (just) to keep a check on my breathing, between gritting my teeth and shouting a range of words I can't type! It was hard work, but well worth the effort.

I now feel back on track with my food and I have a fridge full of healthy, colourful, natural foods. I'm already starting to bounce out of bed before my alarm goes off.

A big motivation for watching those pounds fall off again is a girls holiday to New York that I have planned for four weeks time. Feeling good inside and out will be worth cast-iron determination over the coming weeks.

Portable Pete!

Thank you so much for your welcome back posts. I'm really glad to be back.

I've enjoyed my first day of being refocused on the programme. I've decided to banish my scales to under my bed and concentrate on getting back in touch with all of those things I was doing so well only a couple of months ago. My goal right now is to use my chosen tools to re-establish my mindset of committment, challenge and control. The weight loss will follow naturally.

Today's highlight: I'm completely excited that I've synched my mobile to the laptop so that I can download Pete's podcasts. Now I can take Pete everywhere - whoop, whoop! I'm going to cram my mobile with the podcasts and the relaxation and transformation resource for bedtime. Portable Pete - what more could a girl as for?! ;)

Life feels brighter when you're blogging!

Back online!

What a month it's been!

My husband and I have managed to sort things out and although at times it's clear to see we're 'trying' it's good to know we're both committed to making it work.

Weight wise the ups and downs of the last few weeks have only affected my weight a little. A 4lb gain isn't bad considering all of the wine and tissues I got through! Exercise wise I've been very good, spinning two or three times a week, one ab class or belly dancing and a weights class two. Everyone says I'm looking good and I do feel more toned than I have in a long time.

I really need to re-establish my healthy habits so will be starting the programme from day one tomorrow. It's my usual Power 3 I'm going for; move regularly, eat nautral foods and eat only when hungry.

It's good to be back :)

Expect some new members everyone

Firstly thank you so much for all of your wonderful and kind comments. I feel very special that you all took the time to make comments. What could be a very difficult period feels better knowing I have lots of people to share my thoughts and feeling with. Thank you!

Another positive note. I was out with friends last night and lots of people commented on how lovely I looked and how fantastic my skin looked, I sang the praises of Pete, the programme and the fantastic and wonderful community of online bloggers. A few of my friends took the website details so hopefully they to can experience all the site has to offer.

Keep up the amazing work everyone, we're all doing great!

Update

After ten years together (on and off) my husband and I separated at the weekend. Bits and bobs are still being sorted out but he has custody of the laptop! This means that my being able to blog is going to be a bit hit as blogging at work isn't always going to be possible. I will however still be on the programme and if I can manage to get my hands on a laptop I will be back to my happy blogging self in no time at all.

Dream Team 2 - I shall be with you in mind, body and spirit as relationship matters aside I'm 100% committed and motivated.

Pete - due to budget constraints I won't be able to make Newcastle. I'm gutted as I was really looking forward to seeing you live in action.

I hope to catch you all as and when and GOOD LUCK with the programme and the blogging.

Nat x

Another morning sign-in!

Wahoo I've found the time for a morning Pete session yet again and feel raring to go.

Today is my usual rest day from the gym, however as today is all about moving I'll incorporate some other activities. I'll get off the bus earlier - as long as I'm not on here too long! I'll go for a stroll at lunch time and I'll make an effort to get up and down more during the day.

I'm going out with friends this evening so probably won't blog again until tomorrow so will just finish by saying GO TEAM!

Happy blogging all!

Water

Now I'm refocused on the programme I realised just hpw much my water in take has dropped over the last few weeks. I made a real effort to drink more and felt so much better for it.

I'm back on my museli and soya milk, and have no idea why I stopped as it was lovely.

It's really good to be feeling back in control again :)

Me time!

For the first time ages I've taken the time to log on and watch the video clip BEFORE going to work. It makes all the difference!

Here's to a fab day for all!

Where did February go!?

I've been a bad blogger! However, I'm not going to beat myself up, or try and justify why I've been extremely slack at blogging or sticking to two of my tools because that won't help me to move forward.

I will however acknowledge that my love of exercise is now a definitely a habit that is around to stay.

To move forward and re-gain my focus I must get back to basics and remember all of the fantastic benefits of eating natural foods and drinking lots of water. I haven't completely undone all of my good work though as I haven't gained any weight just maintained. I'm ready to watch the pounds and fat start melting away again so I'm ready to get back on track with the help of the programme, Pete and my fellow bloggers.

Firing on all cyclinders...

This morning I did a Step aerobics class followed by a one hour Body Pump class. I think I can safely say I've banished the germs!!

I woke up with the mind set that I really wanted to do both classes back to back but was unsure if my fitness levels were high enough. So, I went in with the attitude that if I just did the Step class it was better than no exercise at all.

The Step class was great fun (if not a tad complicated!) and I made sure I did BIG moves like the instructor, not half-hearted little ones! Afterwards my motivated high got me through the Body Pump class. I worked hard all the way through and couldn't keep the smile off my face during the cool down. It was hard work in places but the sense of achievement afterwards made it all worth while.

To anyone unsure about using the 'Move more regularly' tool I highly recommend it, Start small and build up week by week, you'll surprise yourself with how quickly your fitness levels improve. I've been regularly exercising since December and I can't imagine not going to the gym at least three times a week. A huge contrast for someone who hadn't exercised regularly for nearly two and a half years!

My top tip, if you want one (!) is to concentrate on what you're doing, not what other people are doing around you and you'll improve and enjoy it much, much more.

I'm off to chill on the sofa for the rest of the day, well earned even if I do say so myself!!

Feeling better

I'm feeling much better today - wahoo!

I think three days on the sofa with plenty of time to go through the resources was just what I needed!

I'm feeling positive and rearing to go! Another bonus is that Pete is going to Newcastle. It's a three hour drive but actually easier and cheaper then getting to London from Nottingham at the moment as train prices for a return journey are silly! I just need to get my Mum and Sis to come along as an insight into Pete's programme will do them wonders :)

Have a good weekend all.

Still on the sofa

I'm still a bit poorly, but did a very gentle workout. It didn't do me any harm and 30 mins off the sofa did me mentally the world of good.

I'm managing to keep my snacks healthy; blueberries, nuts and seeds and I'm drinking LOTS of water to flush away the nasty germs.

As I'm not moving much I don't seem to be as hungry (which is good!) and I've got a stack of magazines such as Zest, Health and Fitness and Women's Health to keep me inspired.

I hope everyone is keep safe and warm in the snowy weather!

Full of cold!

I'm full of cold and feeling lousy, however I'm going to take the next few days to swot up on all of the tools and reconnect with the programme.

Productive sofa time here I come! :)

Next steps

Hmmm it's difficult to start blogging when you've had a bit of a break. It's hard to get the momentum going again.

The last week my eating habits have been up and down, however I haven't gained any weight which is probably due to all of the exercise I've been doing. My motivation dipped slightly on the food stakes, but I think that is because unlike before I haven't been making the time to watch the daily videos and they really do make a difference.

On a positive note I saw some friends I hadn't seen for a while and they commented on how 'tiny' I looked. A slight exaggeration but it made me feel great. The workouts have really toned me up. I actually went out in black leggings, a fitted blue t-shirt with a fitted orange jumper over the top. My thighs looked toned, my tummy flatter and my arms slimmer. I felt confident, toned and curvy instead of wobbly.

I also had a 'compliment 'on a night out with friends when one jokingly asked if my dress was supposed to be a top because it was shorter than something I'd usually wear. My other friend piped up and said who cares she can get away with it. Me 'get away with it'. It just goes to show that success shouldn't always be measured on the scales as I've lost a lot more in inches then I have pounds.

I'm just on the cusp of being under 10 stones and I know to kickstart my weight loss again I need to get back to eating natural foods as my body responds extrememly quickly to the removal of 'fake' foods. However I'm eating only when hungry with ease as that is now firmly engrained on my brain!

Right, I'm off to get some inspiration from the blogs and resources.

It's good to back :)
