Older but happy!
Have got over my stomach bug and had a great birthday yesterday - breakfast in bed, chocolate cake and taken out for a meal in the evening by hubby. Also got an iphone which I have had fun playing with. 42 is really not such a bad age to be!
Felt good about myself over the weekend. Starting to get my waist back and finally feel that am I am starting to accept the fact that I am a traditional Scottish pear-shape and should make the most of having a large 'bahookie' (my Nana always said I had a fine bum for a kilt - charming!) and stop battling against it (which I have done since puberty!)
I think this is probably the first birthday when I have not used that as an excuse to gorge myself silly on everything that is bad for me. I ate what I wanted and more importantly enjoyed it. I ate slowly and stopped when I was full. Minor miracles are taking place! Unfortunately I took my eye off the ball as far as drinking water was concerned so need to get my act back into gear tomorrow. Night all x

Wow well done to you for not using your birthday as a reason to eat more than you wanted too, 42 is a great age, i remember mine well and it was one of my best as 3 days after i turned 42 I became a grandma :)..... one of the best birthday presents i ever had !!!!
I think pearshaped is ok as it appears a much larger percentage of women are pearshaped than anything else!!!! child bearing hips as my old grandad called it !!!!
Have a good week honey

Sue - not sure if you mean that I look older or younger than 42! Or you may be referring to something else entirely!
Nicki (McG) xx
What I meant was I think you look about 34 on screen - can't believe you are 42!
How did your son get on at the weekend? Sue

My son got on well at the weekend. 2 PBs! He has just bought himself these new trunks that seem to weld themselves to his body and of course he is convinced they make him go so much faster! How did your daughter get on?
NIcki x
I mean it - can't believe your age!
Well done to your son. Grace did 800m free - got a PB, a midlands regional time, won her age group and came 2nd overall out of all age groups, so she was well pleased. I am sure your son trains really hard like my Grace and it is so rewarding for them when all that commitment pays off. Don't know where she gets this "sportyness" from - keep saying thank goodness she doesn't take after her Mum! See you on Tuesday
